If you don“t know where to go and what to do in Greece, why do you want to go?

I think they mean because of Christmas, maybe there is something going on. Do your normal sightseeing things, like the Acropolis and the national museum, monastiraki flea market, maybe a bus to Sounion or Delphi. THe Greeks are not as big on Christmas as they are at Easter, but they go out to tavernas and eat where there is music etc. or the Bouzouki clubs that start at around 12midnight or so. THe smaller islands don't have much going on at that time. Most things are closed except maybe for larger islands. No matter what, you will have fun just doing your same old tourist thing and you will see for yourself what you might want to do, but it is nice in the city with the big tree up in the square and some music things usually going on outside. Have fun.

If you have relatives in Greece will be nice to spend the Christmas with them, if you are in Athens enjoy the holiday atmosphere and scroll down in Psiri area in the night, lots of restaurants, cafes, live music or go to the Buzukia like most Greek do. The Greek Christmas it is no big different to anywhere else.

New Year's Eve is celebrated more than Christmas. In fact, Father Christmas arrives on New Year's Eve, according to the Greek version of the tale, on the eve of the Vasilis nameday, as is Father Christmas named [Agios or St. Vasilis].
Christmas day is celebrated mostly at lunchtime, and Christmas Eve is more of an excuse to go out and party. As ijuliano states, most of the locals celebrate at the Bouzoukia [very expensive by the way, and pre-bkgs essential], or in areas with much nightlife, Psyrri, Ghazi, Thissio for downtown Athens for eg.,

You did not say where you are landing at and how much time you have got. It's hard for people to help you if you don't provide more details.
