I know that GA ferries and Sea Jets do this route, but for the life of me I can find any schedules available for October I don't really want to take pot luck because my son intends to travel from UK to meet us and obviously he will depend on some security that we can be where he is at the same time.

Help please...............

HERE'S what one ferry schedule website, www.gtp.gr has to say about Crete>Naxos in October.

It may be that the full schedule for October has yet to be finalized. Keep checking back for more info.

I just checked gtp.gr at the same time as you, leelove, and found daily fast-ferries (NOT seajet but the somewhat more stable Fllying Cats), plus FOUR "regular" ferry sailings -- Wed at 1 pm and 11:30 pm, Monday at 2pm an Saturdays at 8 pm. These big boats say "not approved schedule yet" but I'm sure almost all will come through, maybe with slightly different times. I'm not sure why libby is having a problem.

beg pardon, the fast-ferries don't go to Naxos, jsut the regular ones. NOTE: be sure, if you travel economy, that you get a "reserved seat economy" if possible, so you can have those airline-type seats rather than have to slulmp over a table.

Well I'm blowed - can't understand why I didn't find those. I tried the paleogos booking system (spelling all to hell) then the open seas system - and got absolutely nowhere for October, though I did figure that it was GA and Sea Jets.

Excellent - you have saved my bacon, both of you. Many thanks - feel more confident now to advise son Adam.

Libby, gtp.gr is a little "clunkier" to use (i.e., you have to put in the abbreviations for ports etc), but it has one big advantage: if you just put in the month, not a certain day, it will give you the sailings for the whole month on one screen.

Open Seas, if you put in ports and one certain day, and they have a ferry for that day, that's all you'll see.... when u might wish to see what options you have that Week.

Paleologos makes me crazy. They don't accept many newer browsers ... certainly not firefox -- and cant interact w. Macs nohow.

Another way would be to take the FlyingCat4 from Crete to Paros, then a ferry from Paros to Naxos. FlyingCat4 sails daily except three Wednesdays in October, and arrives in Paros at 1340. The Blue Star has a daily service stopping at Paros and Naxos, arriving Naxos about the same time as the ferry from Crete. There are also a few ferries leaving Paros for Naxos earlier in the afternoon, but not every day. If he were able to get one of those ferries, it would arrive at Naxos earlier in the evening than any of the other ferries.

As usual, you will have to check the timetables nearer the date to get a firm schedule.

The website is perfectly OK on Firefox. I have the latest version of Firefox with Javascript and Java(latest version) enabled, no problem.
