We have a few days to jump around a bit and it seems a car would be most convenient. We have driven all over the world, but I know Greece does not have the best record for road safety... having said that I have driven several times in Thailand and Malaysia and never had any issues! Can anyone who has driven in Greece give some input? We would have to enter Athens .. if only to drop off the car!
I suggest you go back and read the first post on the Western Europe forum....
getting fuel for a rental vehicle may be more of a concern than how other people drive...
What we plan to do should not take more than one tank of fuel... so I'd only get hit with a "didn't return it full" surcharge I think. Of course if they give you an empty tank thats another matter!
If you managed Thailand Greece will be no challange, we drove in Greece but wouldn't attempt that inThailand.
There are already fuel shortages in some areas (some fuel stations can't fill up, as tankers won't deliver unless they've had cash in advance), and the situation will get worse before it gets better. You may be able to judge the situation once you're in Greece.

fuel shortages? in which area you couldnt find fuel? because me in athens and kalymnos island have not problem to find fuel
