Hi!
Im living in Dubai and my sister is living in Istanbul. We just got back from a visa run to Samos and we loved it! We were wondering if there is a good place in Greece to celebrate Christmas. Is anything open over the end of December? My sister is under the impression that lots of places shut down over the winter season. Any suggestions? Thanks!

well if u care to see some greek christmas either head for the mountains- mt pilio in thessaly or mt pindos- the zagoria villages in epirus or mt parnassos -arahova village in sterea or choose a big city like athens or salonika. for your info mountain retreats are packed , quite expensive and u must certainly book early if u want to find good accomodation + a car is a must if u want to really move around and enjoy the place. all these places have ski resorts as well so if there is any snow expect them to be up and running as well. hope it gave you some ideas!

Your sister is thinking of the islands, which are quiet over winter. On the mainland it's business as usual, and yes, they do have skiing in Greece. During a visit to Delphi on a hot July day, I was amused to see ski shop signs around Mt Parnassos.
