Hello

I am planning to visit Greece for 6 nights in Mid June
The plan is to fly into Athens and then take a ferry to one o the islands and spend 3 nights in one off the islands

I will be traveling alone and cant work out which island to go to. I ideally somewhere within 2-3 hours ferry ride of Athens

Need to have good authentic food and drink
Great beach and scenery
Some activities to do as well.
Would be nice to meet people to

After 3 nights the plan would be to take the ferry back to Athens and spend 3 nights in Athens. Im hoping this will be enough.

Any ideas please?

Thanks

If you haven't been to Greece before, Santorini would be the first name that comes to mind. Agreed, it's more than 2-3 ferry hours away; but the Cyclades are far more rewarding than the islands nearby Athens. If you want to save on transit time, you could fly back to Athens or chop off a night from the Athens leg.
Or, if you are under 25, Ios would be good for meeting people and it has a great beach.

Visit Athens at the end in order to be sure to get your flight home. Boats/flights between the Islands can always be cancelled because of rough sea or strikes.
It's up to you to choose the Island you like to go, may be you will have a look at http://www.greeka.com/greek-islands-guides.htm
If you want to see nothing but foreign tourists, go to Santorini or Mykonos. On all other Islands, you may see Greek people too.

Hi
you have another option.
to rent a car for three days, drive to east part of Peloponnese heading to Porto Heli its about 200KM
On the way you should stop for a stroll at Nafplion city.
settle at Porto Heli, from there you can visit the Hydra island a very picturesque as well spetses island.
check the map
have a nice trip

Hi! I would recommend you to go to Crete from Athens. There are a lot of ferries going there every day. One way trip lasts for about 6-7 hours or so. As an option. I recommend to go to Santorini! These are my 2 favourite islands!
