Hi All,

My girlfriend and I will be spending new year's in Berlin this year. We've heard some good stories and are eager to finally visit this city. Does anybody have any suggestions for places to stay and parties/nightclubs to go to? We would like to experience true Berlin and avoid ending up in a tourist joint.

P.S. I found a thread related to this topic but it seemed to be focused on the gay hotels and clubs, which is not our focus.

I am travelling to Munich with my wife. I am looking for a economical place to stay. Have never been to the city, so I asked a travel agent regarding the Hostels in the city and I was advised to not to stay in hostels as they have poor maintenance and not so clean.

While I was checking for hostels at http://www.hostelworld.com/, I found some hostels that have really good reviewes.

Hello All,

I am making a short trip to Munich. I arrive there in the early morning of Nov 22nd (Thur) and leave early morning Nov 26th (Mon). I am carrying with me some heavy luggage (for my month long trip to India, after Munich). I do not have a hotel reservation yet. I am hoping to drop my luggage somewhere safe so that I can get the most out of my day on Thusrday.

Not sure what is the best approach... stay in big hotel (say Euro 150/night or so) and keep my luggage there??? ; OR if I should…

I am going to Germany in July of 08 and would like to know if there are any"classic" german things I could buy. I will be going to Munich,Heidelburg and Neckar Valley.

I am wondering if anyone can give me some real advice. I am moving to Berlin on the 3rd of December 2007, I will be living in Moabit ( I think thats how you spell it) Im moving over there because of my partner. I dont want to rely on her so Im trying to do some research and try and find some english speaking people out there that I could meet up and get advice from.

Hi We're a family of four spending 3-4 nights in/around Munich & southern Bavaria from 20-24 Dec. If we do day trips out of Munich, how easy is it to do this trip in one day: Munich - Mittenwald - Innsbruck - Munich? Best to organise an affordable overnighter somewhere? Thanks SC

A quick question: I notice that many hotels in Munich are very expensive at the begining of May next year. Before 10th May they are almost three times the price they are from 10th May onwards. Is there something happening in the city at this time? I will probably be very embarrassed to learn that something famous is happening at this time.

hi all, we will be staying in Koblenz from 21 Dec to 25 Dec and would like to visit some Christmas markets ~ any suggestions which ones are best? Rudesheim, Koblenz, & Boppard are on our list. Is it worth it to drive to Heidleburg on the 24th? is there enough there to see on a day when nothing will be open? Any other suggestions for holiday entertainment ? I will be doing a short university program in Stuttgart for 6 weeks in January 2008 and would like suggestions for accomodation- maybe an apartment?.
I have been offered homestay accomodation in Remseck(don't know where that is) but am considering accomodation closer to the University and the city centre. Suggestion please.
