Hi. My partner and I are planning a visit to Germany with possibly some visits to the nearby eastern countries. However we 'stumbled' across some brochures on cuising the Rhine, Moselle and Danube rivers. They look like an intriguing splurge. Has anyone out there done one of these trips? If so can you help with
1/ general impressions and recommendations
2/ any warnings about traps we might fall into or things we might overlook
3/ any cost-saving ideas
Thanks in advance.
Hi all - need some expert advice!
Planning a trip for 2 weeks in May to Paris and Munich. Looking to spend 6-7 days in Paris then getting to Munich to spend about four days. Is that enough time for Munich? I know it's short, but is it do-able? I have heard people on this forum say that it is sufficent for a weekend, so I thought 4 days would be a good amount. Am also interested in seeing the Bavarian Alps from Munich as well as the Black Forest and alotting a few more days for that. So the…
Hello
I previously purchased a ticket online for friday from Berlin to Amsterdam and i got the special 29 euro ticket. I got to berlin today, wednesday, and heard about the strike so i went to the train station to ask about the train i have a ticket for. The lady told me i would have to change it for saturday, so i let her stamp it to "validate it" for saturday, (cause the fare says no changes allowed) but after reading the previous post about the strike i checked out the Die Bahn website and see…

Does anyone have any info on these strikes?
I need to get from Cologne HBF to Dusseldorf Flughafen (Airport) on Friday morning was planning on leaving Cologne about 8am.
What happens with theses strikes will there be no trains at all? or will there be delays? Or do they provide replacement bus services?
Thanks
Hello--
I took a look at the Eurocheapo website, has some interesting options, but thought I'd see if anyone had real tips.
I'm looking for a cheapish hotel in the Munich area for early to mid-December. I'm considering doing a 'mileage run' (basically traveling for the sake of the airline miles to keep status) and would spend 1 night in Munich. I'm looking for a place that ideally would let me in around noon to take a nap/shower (after having come from the US), easy to get to from the…
Hi there
I'm staying in Munich from 28 Dec to 01 Jan. Could anyone give me some ideas about some fun things to do during these four days? Also, does the subway run until quite late? I'm not really into clubbing, but any other suggestions for the eve of the 31st would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

FYI: Deutsche Bahn (German Rail) will be on strike 2am 15 Nov til 2am 17 Nov.
Details are few. It isn't known if it'll be the whole system or just part of it (the civil servants) aren't allowed to strike) and there isn't detailed into on the Deutsche Bahn website. Also, DB hasn't bothered to even put the info on the English version of the website.
