Two of my friends and I are flying into Frankfurt Hahn on a Saturday afternoon in about two weeks and leaving the following Tuesday morning. Frankfurt seems a bit unimpressive, so we were thinking about just taking a bus to Cologne as soon as we arrive and only coming back to Frankfurt on Monday and staying the night before we leave. Recommendations or advice on which city to stay in or other towns nearby? Keep in mind we're all students on a shoestring. Thanks!
I´m planning a trip with 5 friends to Munich during Oktoberfest.
Does anyone know if it is possible to book or get a seat in one of the beer tents at the Oktoberfest next September 26th - 27th. (Friday and Saturday evening) ?
Is it possible to just drop in hoping for free seats or should I just forget it ?
I was there aprox 10 years ago and we were able to find empty seats in one of the tents without prior reservation, but if I remember correctly there weren´t too many available.
Hi,
I have not found a quoting system on Deutsche Post and was wondering if anyone knows of a pricing system on the Internet or know of the cost of shipping a small box to Australia.
-
The box would be about 50cm height/width/breadth
-
Contents would weight 10kg
-
Box to be shipped by cheapest (and slowest, ie: Sea) method

Hi all, I'm planning to leave Munich in the evening and travel towards Neuschwanstein and Fussen. My plan was to spend the night in one of the towns and go visit Neuschwanstein early the next morning.
Few questions,
1) I understand that u can book tickets for Neuschwanstein, but are tickets for the early tours possible if u go to the ticket office at 8am in the morning? I will be going in late April.
2) Are there any nice towns to stop along the way for dinner? Any recommendations are highly…
In late April, we’re taking a two week river cruise up the Rhein from the Netherlands to Basel CH, with a diversion up the Mosel from Koblenz to Trier. Arriving in FRA, we plan to stay a few days in Mainz to enjoy Old Town. We've set aside a full day for a scenic train from Mainz to Amsterdam. Since we’ll be seeing much of the Rhein valley on the river trip, we thought a less direct route that is a bit to the east? Maybe through smaller towns? Perhaps heading east out of Mainz, then north…
Hi, I'll be arriving in Frankfurt with a couple friends in early April and we plan on renting a car, traveling around Germany for a few days and making it to Amsterdam eventually. We are 3 American university students and are curious what would be some interesting places to see on our way to Amsterdam (initial thoughts included Berlin, but it's the opposite direction if we are going to Amsterdam, would it be worth it?). Thanks for any insight.
Good Day,
Can anybody tell me if Oktoberfest is worth going to or is it just another frat boy and overcrowded festival? Also, i was told to check out some of the small towns around Munich for smaller and more authentic Oktoberfest events, is this true?
Thank you all for your time and advice!
I was wondering what the less crowded way was to the festival. Taking the S-Bahn from the main train station to Bad Canstatt or taking the Stadtbahn from the main train station to the Canstatter Wesen stop.
Hi, I am an australian citizen and i have a contract to work in frankfurt for 12 months. i am going to enter the country as a tourist and then apply for my residence permit once i am there. i beleive the process is to first get my work permit and then apply for the residence permit. i am unsure of where i go to get my work permit that then enables me to get my residence permit and whether i need an appointment befor hand or do i just turn up and wait in line? any help on this would be greatly…
