OP, you will find that in most cases on all of the TT branches, people are unwilling to provide advice on how to go about living and/or working illegally in a country. If you read Thorn Tree's Terms of Use you will see that discussion on how to commit an illegal activity breaches the terms of use and you may find yourself banned from TT and your posts deleted.
Just an explanation as to why you haven't received the answers you were hoping for.
Another thing to note about working illegally, if you get injured on the job, your travel insurance won't cover you.

Your questions to gawkabout re working in Spain are answered on your other thread, the one about working in Barcelona.

Thankyou Isafjordur, that explains a lot.
Just for the record, I don't want to work illegally, I'm not trying to cheat the system or anything like that, it just seems to me that finding a way to work legally is nearly impossible for an American. If anyone has any suggestions for finding sponsorship, or even an extended tourist visa... aything... I would love to hear it. I'm open to almost any field of work. I never got to study abroad during college, and I'd like to live abroad now that I've been working a bit and have some money saved, they just make it so hard for you when you are no longer a student.

Everyplace I've ever drifted or worked, from Barbacking in Berlin to Bricklaying in Brugge to Butt_Hole_Surfing in
Bangkok, I never got a job under the table from the internet or a phone interview.... Just go before the fest and ask around meet people. If you don't find work at the fest you might find something better in some hide away pub off the side of a side street.Hell I was working Acid House Parties outside of Munich in 86.If you're half ass decent at taking pictures you'll at least have subject material.Maybe you should cross the mountains to the south to look for work.
Oh and Bmta ,Ya need tah Chill. The same USA'ers that have all those rules are the ones helping you rebuild your overly 'wet' country.
Slimpie, the point is that we EU citizens do face the same kind of obstacles when we want to live and work legally in the USA. Travel around the Schengen zone has never been easier. One visa for 28 countries? That can't be bad.
As for the USA 'helping' any country, I think you need to get a grip on reality.

my heart is breaking .....but you have one advantage in Germany. if you can find a sponsor within the three months of your legal stay you can apply in Germany for a work permit (most other nationalities have to apply in their home country) - but as said before - what languages are you speaking - anything except English ?- it's the same in Europe as in the US - if you don't speak the language then you won't find a good job - except ypu have some really needed skills (like IT) no German employer will bother to sponsor you - - why no tlooking around in the UK or Ireland for a start

Look, this was not supposed to be a polital debate. Where work and travel are concerned there are challenges faced by citizens of every country, there is no need to get snippy. Lets all just chill with the finger pointing.

nooo, Caro the point isn't that. The point is anyone with less than an Idiot IQ and speaks a little bit of the native language can come to America as a normal traveler and find work under the table 10 times easier than in Europe and stay on your tourist visa the same amount of time as in Europa. Everyone decides what rules to break of bend on different levels. The bitterness towards Americans Abroad I understand completely (living legally in europe with a passport and a third passport as well)but what I don't 'grip on' is the ease with which you forget the Foreign Policies of the nation herein discussed are the same used by the European Explorers and Ambassadors that founded the New World Order that made the USA possible. Rape,Piracy, and Destuction are the characteristics brought to the "America's" by the Europeans, Which in return 300 years later was the same 'helping' country that not once but twice helped suppress the tyranical ass leader of the wonderful country where this poor girl wants to take part in a Festival we all have enjoyed? Come on man....Get Real...I got problems with noone ....Thank Bill Gates for allowing you to be here....

Bill Gates did not invent the internet..so I don't owe him anything - he probably owes me money after the EU slapped Microsoft twice with a huge fine for abusing its quasi monopoly and overcharging consumers..
so following your logic US Americans are entitled to break labor laws in whatever country their soldiers set foot in more than 60 years ago? so can all French work now in the US as you owe them your victory at Yorktown?

seriously guys, lets chill on the politics and concentrate on the task at hand: finding me a job.
I'm gonna spice things up a bit and throw out this info:
While I do not speak German (I'm sure I could have a beginners knowledge of the language before Oktoberfest though), I do have a LOT of family in Germany. My grandmother is from Stuttgart, and I have cousins scattered all over the country. Is there any way that this can help me get a work permit?
