I'm looking for a place to go that has both backpackers and nature. Places like Bled, Slovenia or Interlaken, Switzerland. I live in New York City, so I'm trying to avoid cities, but I'm traveling alone, so I want to meet other travellers. I'm flying out of Berlin, so it can't be too far from Interlaken (where I am now) and Berlin. For about 3 or 4 days. Any ideas? Thanks guys!

Try the area around Dresden. http://www.saechsische-schweiz.de/en/saxon-switzerland.html
The Sächsische Schweiz or Saxon Switzerland is a picturesque area ideal for hiking. The river Elbe and the Elbsandsteingebirge or Elbe Sandstone Highlands are unique and worth to visit. Dresden is a very nice city offering a lot to see. http://www.dresden-tourismus.de/welcome.html
Dresden is just 200 km South of Berlin. As for the Saxon Switzerland you could e.g. hike from Wehlen (35 km South-East of Dresden) to Rathen.

There are hostels in Dresden near the station Dresden-Neustadt where you will find many backpackers. Moreover there are hostels in Königstein http://www.rock-hostel.de/ and one between Königstein and Rathen http://www.ferdinandshomestay.de/german/lage/ Both are located directly in Saxon Switzerland. Moreover there is a Jugendherberge in Bad Schandau which is more a kind of stay for school classes but I guess few or no backpackers. Trains from Dresden-Neustadt to Saxon Switzerland run every 30 minutes. Travel time 42-60 min depending on your destination.

Another obvious option would be castle in Neuschwanstein at the Bavarian Alps. Many travelers stay one night in Füssen.

Both destinations are not on the direct train line Interlaken-Berlin which passes Freiburg and Frankfurt. Freiburg is a small city, maybe only a town from your NY-point of view. There are some backpackers in Freiburg I guess. It's locate at the slope of the Black Forest.
This hostel is located at the edge of the town near the forest. http://www.blackforest-hostel.de/en/index.htm
