Hello,
I will be studying abroad in Berlin from Aug-Dec and was wondering how the weather is it like there. If possible, I'd also like to know what the weather is like around continental Europe at that time of the year since I'd like to do plenty of traveling as well. Thank you in advance!

"Continental Europe" is a big place with lots of different climats - impossible to generalise.
In August you'll experience 25°C and more, in December you'll see snow(<0°C). Anything between will occur meanwhile. It will mostly be between 5 and 20 during your stay. There will be some rain but less than near the coasts (f.i. Amsterdam, Hamburg). Hard to be more precise for almost half a year :->

at least as far as berlin and germany are concerned, you can pack everything from swimsuit to fur coat with a tendency to warmer clothing. the really cold weather (minus 10 and below) usually does not hit the city before january but you never know. and if you travel further east, i suppose it can be colder than that. waterproof stuff comes in handy, too, october/november tend to be rainy.
