Hi,
I will be travelling to Leipzig in December last week and would like to take my 13 year old daughter for skiing lessons somewhere nearby. I have heard that Thuringia is a nice place for beginners with low slopes. Can I find any ski coaches there? Is that place also good for cross country skiing? How many days will be required for learning skiing? Can anybody suggest any particular place or town? We would also like to explore the place... any castles, forests.

Thank you very much.

The biggest question is will there be snow? Right now it's close to 20°C in the Rhein-Main-Area, Thuringa might be a bit colder but not cold enough for snow.

Agree with 3 it is probably a bit early in the year with it being so low. As for how long it takes to learn no one can answer that it depends on each person, but in 1 week you can normally have picked up enough to ski in your own

Thank you for your response. Let us hope there will be snow. Even otherwise, I heard the place is ideal for hiking.

Thank you. Since I have to book hotel accommodation, I require some advice on the best locations for a beginner with low slopes or for cross country skiing. Is Oberhof the ideal place? Do they have ski coaching for beginners there? I have written to the town tourism office there, but have not yet got a reply.
