Thanks Coolalvin....Yes, the high speed trains are great, and I have used them Many many times. By the time I get myself to an airport out in the middle of "who knows where", I could have been halfway to my destination. It is something to think about.

Germanwings is probably the best, SkyEurope (based in Bratislava and Vienna) is also good.

...skyeurope have taken a lot of flak here over the years for cancellations and bad punctuality...has that all changed perhaps ???

They are all LOWCOST NO FRILLS airlines, you're getting what you pay for. As long as you get a cheap flight and get there in one piece, does it really matter that it's not the best service you've ever got does it!
