New Year's Eve near Munich

My boyfriend and I will be visiting Germany just after Christmas and over New Year, flying in and out of Munich. We would like to spend a couple of days outside Munich, maybe in the mountains, probably for New Year’s Eve. We would be grateful if anyone could recommend a somewhere? We are not skiers (but may walk a bit), would like somewhere quite comfortable to stay, scenery, accessible by public transport from Munich (no more than about 3 hours away). Thank you.
