Hello,

We will be driving from Munich to Prague for a 2 night stay in September and wanted to know if there are any sites to see en route. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thank you

what route are you taking? via Deggendorf-Bayerisch Eisenstein or via Regensburg - Furth ?

Regensburg is definitely worth a longer stop - one of the most beautiful cities in Bavaria

Thank you for your advice and input.

We have not decided on a route as of yet. It will be during the Oktoberfest and figured that 9 days in Munich might be a bit much. An opportunity we cant pass up.

Your ideas and recommendations on a route are greatly appreciated.

Thanks again!

Close to Regensburg is the Weltenburg Monastery next to the scenic Danube gorge. Weltenburg Monastery is also the 2nd oldest brewery on the planet (founded in 1060).

9 days is definitely a lot - I guess 2 nights at the festival and you have seen it -

route

Munich - Kloster Weltenburg - make a trip up the Altmuehl- Valley starting from Kehlheim- stop in Essing and have also a look at Schloss Prunn a couple miles up the valley (dramatic setting high up on a limestone cliff) - from Regensburg head via Furth and Pilsen to Prague - on your way back take the road from Pilsen to Zelezna Ruda /Bayerisch Eisenstein - Klattau (Klatovy) is a nice stop before the border and head on to Munich via Deggendorf - crossing the wooden hills of the Bavarian Forest
