I will have a 12 hour layover in Munich from 9am - 9pm in 2 weeks. The Munich airport web page has good information on leaving the airport via train and travelling into Munich. I would like advice on what I should see and do in this amount of time, making sure I leave plenty of time to return to the airport for my next flight. Thanks for your help in advance!

Depending on your interest and the weather.

If the weather is bad you can visit the "Deutsche Museum" or the "BMW Museum".

If weather is good you can go up the Olympia Tower and walk around the nice park.

Also the "Old Town" around City Hall, Dom and Hofbräuhaus is nice to walk and see.

If your interest is in movies you could visit the "Filmstudios Bavaria".

That's all I have visited. I know there is KZ Dachau and some palaces as well to visit, but I haven't yet the time to visit them, so I know not much about them.

Sorry I haven't respondedj for awhile. Really busy as my trip is coming fast and I will be gone for 3 1/2 weeks to Georgia and Turkey. I am not a drinker, so beerhalls are out. The suggestions for Old Town, palaces and Olympia Tower (love the outdoors) sound good. I found out through the Munich airport Stopover Guide about the Gray Line Hop On/ Hop Off tours. There are discounts in the booklet for the tour and for admission to several attractions. This looks like a great way to get around and see as much as possible in my time there!! Getting excited. Will be in Munich on June 18th!!!

It is too late to tell you, I see, but a day pass bought at the airport will cost the same as a round trip ticket to town, so you may as well get it.
