i'm planning to go to germany holland austria czech republic poland etc from mid october to november.
would this really be a bad time to go? bec of the cold weather etc?
how do you compare a trip at this time and a trip from aug-september?

In Germany we say: There is no bad weather, just wrong clothing ;)
But if you don't mind northern European autumn/winter, you should be fine.

well, it depends on what you wanna see... it's gonna be cold and probably rainy/snowy. if you're rather the museum type, it's perfect, because it's not exactly the tourist season. but if you enjoy being outside, it's probably a lot nicer to go in august-september. you'll get some warm&sunny days and the leaves will be in red-orange colours!
but if you have no other choice than oct.-nov. it's gonna be nice too. i just went to New York in winter and enjoyed the fewer tourists than in summer =) but don't forget to take warm cloths with you ;)
...been to Bavaria in late Oct/early Nov for the last 2 years and the weather has been lovely...

if you are lucky you could have nice weather in october, but november is one of the months I hate most. its dark, cold and everything looks grey. the best months to visit Germoney is from May to August, but also this time could be rainy like last year, but at least its not too cold and not always dark, in november the days starts getting very short.
