There is no reason "not to go" anywhere....apart from the fact that time and money are (usually)limited, and so you need to make decisions.

I guess you must have chosen Frankfurt for a reason?

There is no reason not to go to Frankfurt, a lot of people connect Frankfurt with work and it doesn't have the old town charm that people from over seas look for.

It's the same on Trip Advisor, if somebody wants to come to Frankfurt everybody tells them go to Mainz, so I took the train a few weeks back and went to Mainz to see what it's all about, I was not impressed at all with Mainz and rather spend a long weekend in Frankfurt than in Mainz.

Before you follow #8 advice about the Rhine cruise make sure the boats are running, there is a very limited schedule during winter, also water levels are very low at the moment, some ferries across the Main stopped running because of it.

I staied across the HBF in Bremen a little while ago,

Lovely if you like the red-light district. Horses for courses.

Every group has its own dynamics, if you can't see the idiot then it's probably you.
Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think :-D

Sorry, what red light district in Bremen?? All I saw was some handy shops, not even a Orion store there, no working girls/woman either, but then I don't look out for things like that unlike you since you know it's there.
