Hi all,

we are planning to take a flight from Frankfurt to Iceland, however to get to Frankfurt we will have to take the car since the flight departs at 8:00 AM.

I look on the website of the airport and could only find parking at the airport itself for a normal fee (http://www.airportcity-frankfurt.com) , about 80€ for 2 weeks : holiday parking OR at Terminal 1 for 120€ . But is the parking a secure parking ? I could no where find that the car parking is being monitored and is a real car depot.

Does anyone has any experience with the holiday parking at this airport?

I hate to come back and not find my car anymore ;)

Park & Fly
Click on Park & Fly and than on Premium Parking.

Never heard of problems with car theft there. Not so easy without your parking ticket to leave. And there are cameras at various places.

Or use a service like
http://www.german-transfer.de/
Often cheaper than the parking fees.

Hi,
thx for your reply

We come from Antwerp (belgium) so im afraid we wont be able to use the shuttle service ;)

www.acs-airport.de , is rather expensive : 300€ for 2 weeks . Im used to 100€ for a controlled parking.

Do you have any idea if the holiday parking is decent? because there isnt much information on the site about the parking system : http://www.airportcity-frankfurt.com/cms/default/rubrik/15/15329.holiday_parking.htm

Just to make sure: You're indeed travelling from Frankfurt International (FRA)+ , yes? As there are flights from not-really-nearby +Frankfurt Hahn (HHN) to Reykjavik as well, which would be a completely different matter.

Alternatively, as you've likely figured out yourself, you could take an earlier train and spend the night before your departure in Frankfurt (or Mainz etc.). There's a variety of offers to choose from (e.g. the Europe Spar 50+ by SNCB, the +Rail & Fly+ (only inside Germany) or a combination of +Thalys-deals+ and the German +Dauerspezial+ ). Costs would add up to roughly 200 Euro for a return trip for the two (?) of you hotel, no idea how this fits your plans, just an idea...

From a quick glance at google-earth (not first-hand experience!) I'd say that the 'holiday parking' consists of an odd number of open-air parking lots inside the disused American Air Base. I guess there'll be a some fences and barriers, cameras and patrols. Would be fine with me, yet I'm not a car addict ;-)

Yes the airport is : Frankfurt International, terminal 2

Yea i have checked it out to take an early train, but we are with 5 persons and a additional hotel night would go over our budget ;) We really wanted to take the train tho, rather that than driving.

yea lol didnt think about looking it up like that, i see what you mean its like parking lots spread out over different grounds (right below the name Cargo City Süd right?) its freaky how close you can watch.

I maked good experience with http://www.travel-parking.de in Frankfurt, this parking is secured and 24 hours staffed. I booked for my last trip the option Valet-Parking, very nice.
Try it out.
