Shortly we will be having a stop of about 6hours at Frankfurt airport. Am wondering if we would have sufficient time to escape from the airport and does anyone have any suggestions?

Is that 6 hours total between flights, or have you already deducted some time to complete entry and exit formalities?
If it is 6 hours between arrival and departure, please first tell us where you come from and depart to, whether or not you'll have to pick up your luggage in transit and so on, so we have a clearer idea of how much time you effectively have left to get out of the airport.

With the S8 or S9 you will need 11 mins to the Hauptwache down town Frankfurt, the regional train station is in terminal 1 B down stairs, buy a day ticket so you can use all the transportion in Frankfurt with out having to worry.
Now you can decided after your flight landed if you have enough time, don't forget to be back at the airport early enough to get through secruity for your next flight.
