Hi all - long time user of Thorn Tree under a new user name! You guys have never let me down.

So I am thinking of hitting another "must-do" on my list, which is a trip to Prague and Munich for Octoberfest. I am having trouble wrapping my head around Octoberfest - can anyone give me any pointers as a solo traveler?

Also, what is the easiest way to get from Prague to Munich? Is the train the way to go?

The first thing you need to do is find and book accommodation immediately.
Then I'd research the event. See http://www.oktoberfest-munchen.com/
As for Prague to Munich, book a direct 5 hr bus ride at http://www.cd.cz/en/ or http://www.bahn.co.uk. Discounts are available for booking in advance.

As above #1...if you want to go this year,book your room/bed NOW.

Make sure you bring plenty of money...its not a cheap event!
