Hi All,
I would like to visit the Saxon-Switzerland National Park near Dresden (Nationalparks Sächsische Schweiz) but am having trouble finding information in english. Can any local tell me what are the best walks that cover the canyons and dramatic eroded peaks and what town/village etc is the best place from which to launch into this walk.
Thx for any info
BB

In fact, most tourism-related webpages in Germany will offer you an English version, just look out for Union-jacks... Sächsische Schweiz: I've never been there, but here is another link with an useful linklist (e.g. to boatservices on the Elbe).

I was there for a few days just last week!
We stayed in "Stadt Wehlen" which is right on the Elbe a good central point (e.g. just an hour's walk to the "Bastei", the best-known sandstone formations). The "Malerweg" is the main walking path through the Sächsische Schweiz and should be easy to google. There is also good walking around Königstein and Hohnstein (both which have castles). It's a beautiful area and surprisingly empty!

Hey all
Thanks for that - exactly what I wanted - just some names to get started.
Cheers,
BB
...Kala, how many days do you recommend to get a good look around the area???...2/3 perhaps ???

Hi Jack: We had 3 days there (1 spent walking and 2 mountain-biking), plus a day in Dresden and we felt that was a good amount of time.
