Hi my name is Jade, I'm thinking of cycling to Berlin from Amsterdam in a couple of weeks, was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on the best routes ect.. thinking about taking a tent and just camping for the night so don't really want to stay near the big cities, does anyone have any suggestions? haven't really cycled long distance before but thinking about taking it slowly and just seeing how it goes :)

How much time do you have for all this?

For the German part, the ADFC website should have lots of information. For instance the following route would take you most of the way: http://www.adfc.de/deutschland/alle-routen/01-d-route-3--europaradweg-r1/01-d-route-3--europaradweg-r1

For the Netherlands you could look into the long distance cycling routes:
http://www.nederlandfietsland.nl/en/long-distance-cycle-routes
http://www.holland-cycling.com/where-to-go/long-distance-cycle-routes/national-long-distance-cycle-network

You could also have a look at http://www.viamichelin.com/. Click on the bike symbol under "Route Options" and they come up with a route. You'll have to split the trip in parts to use the website for the whole distance.

Camping wherever you like in Germany is illegal. That said, there is a great website out of Germany that offers travelers a community in which to share their experiences and submit reviews of free campsites. Registration is free and the benefits are great. www.freagle.com Give it a look. Many of the sites in their database are in Germany.
