hello, i would like to know if this is a safe trip when using the night train... i read some stories about gas and steals. I'will travel with another person, and i know that we can't fall deeply sleep, because we have to pay atention to our stuff. but this stories are concerning me a little. can anyone tell me if this is a safe trip, somebody that have done this trip recently, had any problem? thank you

I've never heard such a story about a day time train before.

The risk of theft is higher at railway stations and local public transport. Thieves love places where they can escape and duck easily if discovered. That's not the case at all on far distance trains.

But neither Berlin nor Warsaw are places known in Europe as centres for petty crime.

By the way: if your luggage gets stolen on board of a train and you've made the usual precautions (visiting the toilet, falling asleep is allowed), you'll get a compensation of the railway company. Of course only for the common travelers luggage. The number of filed cases and the number of stories don't have any relation at all.

Where do these "stories" originate from? I used that very night train last week and I just don't see how in anyway on earth such stories contain a shred of truth, or relevance today.
You will be fine.
