So I am going to a wedding on Thurs 7th Aug in Bamberg.

I'll either be coming from London, or from the south of France (where I might be on holiday - haven't yet figured out how to get from the south of France to Bamberg....sigh).

The wedding is the Fri and Sat and unfortunately there are no flights back to London on the Sat eve or at all on the Sun, only the Mon.

My question is - is staying in Bamberg from Thurs to Mon too long? Is there enough to see and do?

I thought about jumping on a train on the Sat eve to Munich to see friends and stay there for a couple days instead til the Mon (when the next flight from Munich to London is).

Any advice?

Thanks

ps if you can think of a not too long and affordable way to get from near Limoges to Bamberg please feel free to suggest!

http://www.skyscanner.de/transport/flights/nue/lond/140810/airfares-from-nuremberg-to-london-in-august-2014.html?rtn=0 as you can see there are flights even from Nuernberg to London on sunday the 10th,
Nuernberg is pretty close to Bamberg.

Bamberg itself is a very nice town, do try the Rauchbier you only get it there, in case you get bored you can visit Coburg http://www.coburg-tourist.de/index.php?lang=en Kulmbach http://www.kulmbach.de/xist4c/web/Tourism_id_8884_.htm or Nuernberg http://www.nuernberg.de/internet/portal_e/index.html as a day trip from Bamberg.

Train from Limoges to Bamberg will take 16 - 17 hours so your best bet is a flight, use skyscanner to find one.

Bamberg is really lovely and can keep you going from a couple of days but as mentioned above, Nuernberg is just down the road and has plenty to do and see...
