My wife and I (Australian, late twenties) are spending a few leisurely days winding our way from Geneva to Paris (in October), and want to know of some cute French towns and villages in which to soak up the atmosphere for a couple of days. Not so fussed about lots of sightseeing or things to do, just want something simple (+/- romantic?) that captures a little piece of French countryside. And we don't speak any French, if that is a problem!

Any suggestions?

Hey! I am planning on a back packing trip to Europe next spring right after I turn 18. What I am going for is to see some of the major cities like London and Paris, check out some of the WWII stuff in France and Germany and then get a feel for small town European life with the food and people. And I'll want to try out some Belgian beer as well.

I'm planning on flying into London, then taking an underwater train (I forget what it's called?) to Paris and then Euro railing around to Belgium…

  1. My flight will arrive Parid CDG about 9am, and can I book a train ticket from Gare du Nord at 10:55? do I have enought time to get there?

    2. do I need to buy tickets online ahead of time for both CDG - Gare du Nord, and Gare Du Nord - Belgium MIDI? or there are usually plenty of seats that I can just get them once I am there? in this case i wouldn't risk any delay / can't catch the train situation

    Thanks!!!

I am planning a side trip from Paris to NW France for a few days. I will not have access to a car so I am wondering how accessible this area is via public transport. (I am very spoiled by the Paris metro system!) Renting a car is not an option as I left my driver's license back in the states thinking I wouldn't need it since I had my passport for ID. (I'm kicking myself for that one daily!) Some of the places I'm most interested in seeing are D-Day beaches and Mont St-Michel so I'm…

Hello TT. We are considering booking rooms at the Hotel Derby Garibladi located at 92 BOULEVARD GARIBALDI in Central Paris. Does anyone know of this hotel and can you offer some advice as to its location to the central sights etc? We are going to France in September for a family get together (brother and wife live in Brittany). Thanks for any advice.

Hello,

I'm looking at doing a day trip from Biarritz to Donostia/San Sebastian. I know you can get the Pesa bus, but looking at their timetable 12:15 is the earliest departure. From experience, is this correct?

Does anybody know another bus company that depart earlier?

Thanks,
Paddy.

Hi

I have the offer of some cheap accommodation in Megeve in the Alps in early September. I will have my dog with me. We like fresh air, walking, although nothing too hectic and a beer or two at an outdoor restaurant perhaps in the evening.

Anyone been and what did you think of the place. Oh, we will have a car so will be able to get about if public transport is not too hot.

Thanks,

Dave, Hebden Bridge, UK

Hi, me and 3 friends are making a brief trip to the South of France and the Pyrenees in mid-July and it'd be great to have some advice from people who know the areas...

We'll be spending a few days in Barcelona before hiring a car and driving up the coast into France. We'd like to spend a day or two staying somewhere on the coast, not too far east as we don't want to do loads of driving - maybe around the Montpellier area? But preferably in a smaller not-too-touristy place, with nice beaches and…

My husband and I are off on our honeymoon in the South of France from 1 to 10 August. We'll arrive in Marseille, stay one night then hire a car and the plan is to stay somewhere fairly central to do day trips. We're not looking to lie on a beach and from what I've been reading this is a good thing as we'll hopefully avoid the worst of the crowds and traffic.
One concern though is the heat. I have a condition due to which I have to avoid getting too hot for too long, hence air conditioned…
