Hello everyone,

I'm heading to Paris August 2-5 and wanted to get some advice from people as to the best places to see, visit, etc. Its my first time, so I expect to do all the first-timer things (Louve, Eiffel Tower, Moulin Rouge, etc.).

But does any one have any advice as to some night life, interesting bars, wine spots? I've heard a train ride to Germany (Munich) might be fun and kill a day... Let me know, I'd love to hear your advice. Thanks.

hey friends! i need your help!

my brother is moving to france in august with his wife and baby for one year. needless to say, they'll have plenty of luggage (for one year and 3 people), and they'll have jetlag (coming from the states). they will be flying into lyon, and i will meet them at the airport. then we will go to chambery. i'm looking for the best way to get them there with the least hassle. we want public transportation, not renting a car. actually, i think their landlady might…

Question

Does anyone know a hostel in Lyon?

I am there end of August and I can only find budget hotels online. I'd rather stay in a hoste with dorms and backpackers.

All suggestions are appreciated.

I am soon to embark on a short trip for four days cycling in the Loire Valley, arriving in Tours at the beginning of September.

Firstly, I know that four days is not nearly enough time to explore properly and so was wondering if anyone can advise on whether it would be better in terms of scenery, quaint villages, chateaux etc to travel west (towards Angers) or east (towards Blois) from Tours.

Secondly, I read an article in Wanderlust magazine Feb/March 2003 edition about the Loir Valley. North of…

I have a layover on Sunday night in Paris--arriving at 11:00 PM and taking off at 8:25 AM Monday morning.

I don't want to sleep--I mean, why sleep when you could have 6-7 hours in Paris? But, obviously, it's the middle of the night--so what should I do?

Any recommendations on what to do in Paris through the night? I'm up for anything, although best would be things/experiences special to the city.

Paris veterans--what would you do with an 11:00 PM-8:25 AM overnight in the city?

My wife is travelling to Strasbourg on August 28 and has to get from CDG to the Gare de l'Est.

I've looked at three different travel guides and found that the RATP Bus # 350 does this direct route, but it can take over an hour, plus she is arriving during rush hour and has to make the TGV departure I hae to book as well.

The Lonely Planet guide is the best, but all it says is that the RER B 3 line runs "to the city."

What I still can't figure out yet is how close it run to the Gare de l'Est.

If it…

Hello! My boyfriend and I are planning a short trip by car to the South of France. I've been reading about different cities and they all seem to be worth a visit, but our time is limited and we don't want to be visiting 10 cities in 5 days, but rather pick 3 or 4. That's why I would really like the advice of people who know the area.
We're pretty much decided about visiting Avignon, as my boyfriend knows some people there.
Different combinations with other cities seem to be possible:
- Nîmes…
