Hi everyone,

My husband and I are travelling to France, from 17th to 31st October 2015. We need some help deciding where to visit in France other than Paris. We will be using public transport. We love small towns and non-touristy spots. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Hi I need to travel from London to Lorient. May I know whether it will be more convenient to go by plane or by ferry?

If I opt to take ferry from Portsmouth in UK to St Malo, is it convenient to take public transport from St Malo to Lorient? Or it is better to rent a car?

Is there any other options to reach Lorient at the most economy way?

We are in a family of 4.

I will be arriving in Paris (as a transit), then I'll be off to San Francisco. I am going with my 3 kids. (12,15,17). I arrive at Charles de Gaulle Airport at 7:40 pm. My next flight is at 10:40 am. So I do have a lot of time. I was thinking of immediately leaving to have dinner somewhere in Paris as soon as we arrive and then off to bed. I'm going to book a hotel near the airport. The problem is that it is at night and my kids may get too tired and grouchy.
So, I have 3 questions:

1) Would my…

A friend and I are attending a wedding in Kaysersberg, France on August 28, 2015. We'd love some advice on our itinerary. We fly into Paris on Aug. 26 at 7am local time and have to be in Kaysersberg by 7pm on August 27th. Then we fly back out of Paris on September 3rd. I'd personally like to see a bit of Switzerland, a bit of Italy and as much of France as possible.

Tentative Route:
Paris
Kaysersberg (necessary, that's where the wedding is located)
Zurich
Lucerne
Milan? Genoa?
Monaco?
Nice (or Cannes…

I was reading an article about how some US citizens from certain states with Carte de Sejour or Carete de Residence can apply for an exchange:
"Driver’s licenses from some states are eligible to exchange for a French driver’s license. You must apply for the permit at least three months before the expiration of the one-year period."

This forum doesn't get a lot of requests for such information but the info comes from the Embassy of France in the United States, Washington D.C.
