Hello, I'm doing a very swift (to say the least) trip through France in July to Spain.
I'll be in Paris for Bastille weekend then probably onto Lyon for 1/2 nights. I am then looking for somewhere to stop over between here and Barcelona. I have had a bit of a research on here and other places and can't decide between places such as Nimes, Avignon, Narbonne...etc! I'll only be there a short time, so a small town would be nice. I do need to be able to get in and out (by train or bus) easily though. Would ideally like to camp.
Also, can people advise between trains/buses onwards to Barcelona. Thanks to all the wonderful people I know will reply!!

Carcassonne might be a good choice. Look it up and see if it interests you. You will probably have to change trains or buses in Narbonne, but there is a straight-through bus connection from Carcassonne to Barcelona that I have used quite a few times; faster than the train and just as comfortable.

Maybe if you don't have much time il would be better to take the plane. Like this you could spend more time in Barcelona or Lyon. A law cost flight in Europe is generally cheaper than by train or busses.

Hey thanks for your suggestions.
I'm hoping not to fly...part of the plan is to go by land and convince myself I don't need to fly so much (although yes, it would be much cheaper....sigh). I'm starting to consider skipping Lyon and possibly doing it on the way back, instead going straight down to the South (nimes perhaps) from Paris. Carcassonne looks really nice so I'll head on there next and onto Barcelona.
Anyone got particular experience of camping in these places?
Cheerio!
