Can anyone suggest a fabulous mid priced resturant in the Latin Quarter or near the St. Germaine to celebrate my husbands 60th May 11th?? I have found so many helpful hints on this forum, I am hoping someone will come up with the gem that I am looking for. Thanks All!!
In the Latin Quarter there is a street, rue Moufettard, that is lined with restaurants. To me they are a bit to touristic.
A restaurant I really liked for a fair price of about 25 Euro for a three course meal is located 4 or 5 blocks behind the New Opera at Bastille. Sorry it is not where you wanted it to be, but by metro it is not that far in time. The name is La Table d'Aligre and a few years ago it was noted in the Paris issue of Bon Appetite Magazine. The interior is simple but elegant. The menu is creative and changes every day. A very good wine selection. They are always busy and I would recommend a reservation. Have your hotel make the reservations for you. They are open for lunch and re-open again about 7:30 for dinner. This restaurant is not well known by the tourists.

Sorry to be cynical but do 'fabulous' and 'mid-priced' belong in the same sentence in Paris?

Why don't you try Procope, one of the oldest restaurants in Paris, with beautiful decor and nice food for a reasonable price (about 25-30 euro for a basic menu without wine). It's in the rue de l'ancienne comédie, just off Odeon. They have a website. Make a reservation and ask to be seated on the 1st floor, not on the rez-de-chaussé. Another nice one is Méditerranée, a seafood restaurant on place de l'odéon. Similar prices.
