Hello!
I am going to be sailing on the (Spanish) sailboat Icaría from the Base Nautica, Barcelona. We are sailing from Nice and are going to go around the island, stopping in various ports (such as Ajaccio) while circling the island.
Would love to get recommendations of lovely places to see along the coast, adresses of good restaurants and live music places, and anything else of interest!
Je parle Français, but I have heard the Corsicans speak an interesting dialect and are a bit anti French... any truth to this?
Thanks everybody, and have a great summer! :)

From my experience the Corsicans are much more likely to be insulted by thinking that they have something against the rest of the country, than by using their near to totally universal language, French, with them. Their regional language, for those who speak it, is an affirmative thing, and extra to the widely spoken French.

Just show how much you like Corsica and Corsicans and you'll be fine - and I'm sure you will like them! Cap Corse is quite wild and beautiful. Speaking French is fine, no worries.
I have fond memories of eating fresh crab at this Hotel in Centuri on the tip of the West coast of Cap Corse.
On the East Coast of Cap Corse, Erbalunga is a pretty little town. I recommend the cheese and fig jam which is sometimes served in bars.
I recommend Dorothy Carrington's book "Granite Island" before any trip to Corsica.

Dont worry about that. I'm french and visited the island twice. You will love it and locals are friendly. They live on a wonderful island and expect visitors to be respectful of the place, the environment and the people, writing on this site i guess you are. They aren't ready to compromise with mass tourism, and i think they are right to do so.
Hello everybody and thank you for your feedback. :)
I am going September 1 - 10 and will pick up "Granite Island" at the FNAC here in Barcelona...
Please keep the suggestions coming!!!

The Girolata coast & reserve is one of the most beautifull spot I've been in the world. In the evening the brown & redish colors of the rock + the blue water and the sunset .. well it's amazing ! Also, don't forget the apéritif. The people are very cool, open and generous / the culture is very rich (esp food & music). Sure you will love it !

Forgot to mention : I don't think they are anti français at all, they just don't like unrespectfull & snobish "envahisseurs" !! ask the great singer Jacques Dutronc what he thinks about them . you see !
Convenience or fate? Browsing through piles of books at my fave second hand English bookstore in Barcelona, the[http://www.lfant.biz/=Elephant Bookstore]f[/S], I find a Lonely Planet guide of Corsica! For €3, you can´t go wrong!
Leaving September 1st, keep them suggestions coming!!!!
