Paris: Stay central or across the Seine?

I highly recommend you to stay in the 11th. Ile de la Jatte is out of town, and I mean out of Neuilly !! which is quite far from Paris and any convenient transportation (no metro in that area, only buses at about 10 minutes walking distance from the hotel).

And don't be sorry, your question was pretty clear.

Thanks Jedy, I think that staying central seems to be the best option. I am currently looking at the 5th and 11th, and perhaps montmartre? Everywhere seems to be pretty booked up though so starting to wonder if my trip to Paris will happen at all! Thank you so much to everyone who's been so helpful.

Hotel de la Jatte at Neuilly sur Seine !!! hum, if you'll stay there maybe you will see our (1 chance on 2) president of Republic : he's got a very nice appartement on the Jatte Island, on the Seine :-)
