I am going to be in Paris for part of my honeymoon in October. For the nighttime entertainment, I would like to do three things.

1. An evening dinner cruise on the Seine.

Does anyone have any good recommendations or tips beyond the usual vendors such as bateauxmouches or bateauxparisiens?

2. Dinner and jazz.

Any good clubs to hit? We like old school gypsy jazz especially but almost all jazz in general. Looking for something intimate and hip.

3. Cabaret

Seems that there are three clubs - Crazy Horse, Moulin Rouge, and one other. Are there any significant differences between what the different venues offer during the shows? Any strong recommendations?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

  1. This dinner cruise (Yachts de Paris) is the only one I've heard of where the food is actually top notch. Didn't look for a price on the website but I imagine it's not cheap... On a reasonable budget, either go with low expectations of the dinner itself, or have a nice dinner elsewhere and take an evening cruise afterwards.

    2. Rue des Lombards in the 1st arrondissement near Chatelet/Les Halles is jazz street - Sunset/Sunside, Baiser Salé and Duc des Lombards are all well-established venues with consistently good acts. You can also eat at Sunset/side and Duc des Lombards - not sure about Baiser Salé.

    3. The 3rd one you mean is probably the Lido. Never been to any of them, but if I had to spend an evening at one of the three I would pick the Crazy Horse, because I think it's more of a comtemporary take on cabaret rather than "old school" cancan and feathers.

  1. there is a place called 'Limonair' near Grands Bourlevards. give it a google. It's a bistro with live music after 930 or so.

    3. I don;t know why people bother with these places. basically a glorified strip club. if you like visiting strip clubs at home then go ahead.

To live in fear is a life half lived.

The concept of the word "cabaret" does not cover the shows presented by the Lido and the Moulin Rouge -- these are big stage productions. While the Crazy Horse Saloon is "cabaret sized" and has cabaret acts in addition to the nude women, I don't really think that it qualifies as a cabaret either, because the attraction is the nude women.

I don't know where MTL got the idea that any stripping was going on these places. To see strippers, you have to go to the places on boulevard de Clichy.
