I'm off to Paris again in a week. Can't believe Eurostar is £150 return - have to fly Easyjet (£65).
Anyway, have been there 3 times over the past 2 years. Been to the usual museums - Louvre, Pompidou, Picasso, d'Orssay. Stayed in Montmartre previously. Wandered the streets, checked out the cemetries. Wandered into local farmer markets etc etc

Now I'm back there for another week.
My interests are art, history, food and photography.

Suggestions of new places to check out, areas a little out of the centre etc would be great.
Also, would love to buy a couple of ties made by famous design houses in France but not too happy about paying 100Euros for them - any idea of where to get them any cheaper?

thanks

You shouldn't have waited until one week before departure to find Eurostar fares. You could have paid 1/3 the price with a little planning.

You'll probably want to check out the new Musée du Quai Branly.

For history, if you haven't already: The Military Museum at Les Invalides; the Carnavalet - history of Paris; Le Musee du Moyen Age (fka Musee Cluny)

The WWII museum at Les Invalides is particularly good. There's also a tiny museum there dedicated to the winners of the French Medal of Honor (I forget the exact name) from WWII. The wing dedicated to the Resistance is facinating, and the wing dedicated to deportees is extremely moving.

Two or three blocks from Les Invalides is the Rodin Museum, with a wonderful sculpture garden.

Also, there are several small museums -- photography, fashion, and advertising -- in the Louvre, though not part of it. The entrances are off the Rue de Rivoli.

The Musee Marmottan is great if you haven't been there already. If you like food, you should check out some of the specialty food shops in Paris. There's also day trips like Reims, Chartres, Giverny, etc.

Musee Jacquemars-Andre on Boulevard Haussmann: private collection of arts and works presented in a superb 19th century "hotel particulier". Masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance and of eighteenth century French painting. Very interesting to discover decors and architecture from late 19th century.

Musee Nissim de Camondo, Parc Monceau (rue de Monceau): reconstruction of an 18th century aristocratic home (Furniture, rugs, paintings...)

Musee Marmottan (16th arrondt. Mo La muette): it houses numerous works by Monet and other impressionists from a private collection.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions - the new Musée du Quai Branly looks very interesting - I will definitely check it out. There is a new bridge over the Seine as well - looks good. I haven't been to the Arab museum as yet, again looks interesting.
