Hi All

We like to travel from Paris to the Lorie vale by car (rent car).
We have 5 days.

The plan is to see Blois Chambord Amboise and Clos Luce and more if possible.

We would like to stay in a “little” town in the Lorie vale and start out from there to the castles

We would appreciate help:
- to find a "littel" town good situated and is nice to see too?
- we selected some castles.. are there other that are a good choice?

Thanks

Amboise is nice and small.

Oh and it's Loire Valley or Val de Loire if you're googling.

I like Amboise- it has one of the chateau
you are planning to see, car rental through local auto dealers, and is a great town to base yourself for visiting Chambord and Blois. You might want to add nearby Chenonceaux and Cheverny (near Chambord) to the itinerary. You can see all three in a day-long road trip from Amboise.

I like Amboise as a base as well. It has the Chateau D'Amboise and the Chateau de Clos Luce.

I'd recommend eating away from the main tourist strip (Chez Bruno there is pretty good though). I enjoyed l'Echanson and La Fourchette.

I agree with adding Chenonceau - it's very nice. If you're comfortable with cycling on roads that have traffic, then you could consider cycling there. Otherwise, I'd stick with a car.

I used the Ibis Hotel in Blois as a base. Even though it is a chain, this particular hotel is a retrofitted major historical hotel of the city and is right next to the château of Blois. (And it is cheap!)

All of the major châteaux of the Loire Valley are within easy reach since you have a car.

We stayed in Amboise and loved it. Walked to Clos Luce and Chateau D'Amboise. Also loved short drive to Chenonceau and Villandry
