Maybe some of you will know this. My best friend from NYC is thinking about moving to France and work there as an acupuncturist. She has a US license for TCM and acupuncture, but doesn't know if she has to get a license for France in order to work there--apart from the work visa. Does anybody know, or could point me into the right direction? Is it hard to get a work permit in France? Any tips are gladly appreciated.

Thanks, and Xposted in Long Haul and WT.

Only licensed medical doctors are authorized to use acupuncture in France. Read this.

Especially in Chinatown in Paris, quite a few people do it illegally.

Thanks! I'll pass it on to her, since I don't speak a word of French.

She wasn't thinking about going to Paris, but to Southern France, and maybe work at a hotel/spa that generates some Americans.

I'm a German living and working in the US, so I only know the visa situation from here. If a company wants you and you qualify, you can apply for a work visa, if company sponsors you (that's why I was thinking about a hotel or so). How about a business visa?

If it is to practice acupuncture and she is not an MD, there will be no visa.

Damn. It would have been nice for her...
