We are palnning a trip to France in the end of September. Am planning to fly into DeGaulle and then want to take the train to Quimper, Fr. Any idea what would be the closest train station I could easily get to from the airport. I have never been to that area so have no idea what to look for. Anything would help!! TIA

Six or seven years ago I was able to get a train from CDG airport direct to Rennes and then on to Quimper. Can't remember if I had to change trains at Rennes. At that time there were only a few trains which went CDG - rennes so you might have a bit of a wait. The French rail website, Englsih version, will give you the train times, www.sncf.fr

The best rail timetable site for most of Europe is www.bahn.de. Click on "Internat. Guests" to view the site in English. The site can show you connecting points and intermediate stops on all routes given. On this site enter Aeroport Paris Charles de Gaulle TGV for the station at CDG. You'll see that there is an early afternoon direct TGV from CDG to Rennes from where you would take a regional train to Quimper. The other times given all require you to go into Paris and take a train from Gare Montparnasse to Quimper.

What is your arrival time at CDG? It COULD take up to one hour to get through immigration/passport control and it WILL take another hour to get to Gare Montparnasse. Leave AT LEAST three hours between your scheduled arrival at CDG and your scheduled departure from Gare Montparnasse.

check: www.sncf.fr its the french railways site has all the infos
There is a connetion at C de G with TGV (high speed train) but you have to inquire if they have a direct train to QUIMPER if not you may have to go to Montparnasse
