Hi,

Does anyone have suggestions for cell phones in France? We would like to be able to use our cell phones in France to make calls in France and back home.
What kind of service do we need to have for our US cell phone or should we rent? one in France?
What is the best and least expensive way to handle this?

Thanks!

If your US GSM phone are 900-1800 MHz type (the genuine GSM) they will work all over the world. (If your SIM card/provisder supports international roaming - it´s all on their homepage). If they are only of the "special" US-version of GSM of 1900 or 850 MHz (or not even GSM phones) - only, you need a new phone.
Phones are so cheap today that it probably is cheaper to buy a new than to rent if you are there for more than a few days.

if you have Cingular service in the US (with a SIM card in your phone) your phone will work just fine in France. Just call and have interantional service added to your account (then take it off when you get home).
