I'm going to meet a friend in Nice for a long weekend and we've had gorges du verdon reccomended to us. We were thinking of staying in moustiers st marie for a night, but are keen to find somewhere pretty cheap to stay - ideally a hostel type thing. Would love any suggestions.

Moustiers and the gorges du Verdon are very beautiful - excellent choice!
However, Moustiers is really small, and relatively touristy, which means that accomodation is not that cheap, and there is no hostel directly in Moustier.
Check the tourist office website here.
Your best bet is probable the gite d'etape (which is located outside the town) or one of the B&B's (chambre d'hôte).
Or you could go camping, I stayed twice at a site down at the lakeside and really liked it.
If you have the time to go hiking, ask the tourist office to recommend a trail.
