Hi everybody,
I am going on a weeks vacation in Paris, and want to go on a three day tour somewhere else than Paris. I do not want to rent a car, so I must be able to reach it by train or bus in a few hours.
I am into relaxing, beaches, architecture, food and athmosphere. - not necessarily all in the same place.
Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks!

depends of your budget and what you like... west side or south, pebbles or sand, cream or olive oil...
- Normand coast : Trouville-Dauville, at about 2 hours train from Paris, the typical parisian week end, a certain atmosphere or the very nice Etretat with pebbles beaches and cliffes
- Britany : Vannes for its architecture, its small beaches and coves (Morbihan) or the very interesting Saint Malo, 3 h 1/2 train
- La Rochelle, 3 h, such pleasant and the "île de Ré" on the other side of the bridge
- even the Mediterranean Marseille which can be reached in only 3h1/4 with the TGV...

DIJON . . . DIJON . . . DIJON.
I am actually there as I write this. Dijon is about an hour and a half train ride outside of Paris. There is great food, wine, architecture, shopping, museums, parks, fountains, squares, food, wine, food, wine (oops, repeating myself). I think there is also a lake (we saw it from the train as we got close to town).
We are leaving tomorrow after 4 days here and wish we could stay longer. Everyone has been soo nice to us here we really don't want to leave. We are staying at Hotel Thurot which is very close to the train station and it is about 50E for a double (2.00 euro for unlimited wi-fi IN THE ROOM!!).
My husband and I have been writing about it while we are here. . check it out (http://sharynandmike.com/wp/). There also many day trips you can take from here including Beane and Marsannay-Le Cote. Just remember, it is all about the WINE!!
Enjoy your trip. Would love to hear how you like Dijon if you make it there!!
