Hello,

My daughter and her three girlfriends would like to walk (40 miles-60 km) this summer between Vienna and Bratislava along the Danube.

Does anybody know how doable that is?
Can they walk all the way along the river or do they have to cross busy traffic?
Can you suggest a cheap guesthouse/camping in the middle of this journey?
Where could I get detailled maps of the walk? Tourist Office in Vienna? On Internet?

Any tips are very welcome.

thanks, chris from Belgium

IHi everyone

I'm moving to Vienna in September to work as a Language Assistant in a school there for 5 months. I'm currently struggling to find somewhere to live, so wondered if anyone had any tips on where to look? I'm looking to ideally rent a room in a flat/house not too far from the Landstrasse area (where I'll be working) and have budgeted 500-600 euros/month for this - I've heard Vienna's expensive, so just wondered whether this seemed reasonable?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated…

I am leaving Cesky Krumlov by auto on a Tuesday morning going to Vienna where we will spend 2 nights and leave for Budapest the following morning. Considering that we will have two days in Vienna, should we stop for a quick look at the Melk Abbey which is really on the way or should we go direct to Vienna. We are staying at the Vienna Rathaus wein and design which is pretty central. We love history, art, culture. I am torn and would appreciate input. Thanks in advance.

Hi all

I'm going to Vienna next month and I'll like to know if there are nice villages (like Hallstatt) near Vienna.
As we are staying 9 nights, I wonder if it's best to book a hotel only in Vienna or Vienna and another nice city, not very far, as the arrival and departure flight are from Vienna.
What do you think it's the best (cheap + easy) way to go to Bratislava, as we are 4 persons, bus, train or boat ?

Thanks in advance.

Hello all,
following my previous post, I'm still pondering over the decision to take or not a hostel "room" for the night before my flight back home. Here's the details:

My flight to Canada (through Frankfurt) is leaving at 7 AM

The hostels we looked at ARE close to a train station (Wien Westbahnhof), but from what I've found, the first bus leaving from there to the airport is at 5AM and it takes 45 min. I would like to be at the airport a bit before that to be confrotable (if, for eg., I miss…

Hi,
Can anyone tell us if getting a boat (hydrafoil) from Vienna to Budapest is worth it?? Just been reading some reviews that the scenery is quite dull but we're interested in an alternative from trains and buses and would like to see the Danube.
Any advice would be much appreciated,
Thanks!
