I'm planning to travel to Switzerland, Austria and Czech this summer, chances are on my own. Tentatively, it would be from 26th June to 13th July.

Is Austria safe for a single female traveller? Is there anybody out there who is heading to Austria as well during the summer?

Are the hostels in Austria pretty good or should I opt for Bed and Breakfasts?

Hiya, I'd like to spend a few days in Liechtenstein but I'm not sure what the easiest/cheapest route is. Basically, at the end of March, I'll be flying in from Amsterdam and out to London, but should I fly in and out of Zurich, Munich or Vienna? The flights in and out of Munich seem to be the cheapest, but will that not end up being the case when I factor in getting to Liechtenstein? Anyone have any thoughts as to whether a 4 berth couchette is worth the 10 euro extra compared to a 6 berth couchette on the Vienna to Rome sleeper. (59 euro vs 49 euro).

We are 70 and very active. En route from Vienna to Florence. We have 2 days spare. Is Salzburg or Innsbruck the more interesting stopover? Just easy sightseeing, coffee and relaxation. No rushing around. Tuscany will keep us climbing!!!

We're planning on a trip to Mauthausen Concentration Camp from Vienna. There's a long wait in St. Valentin to change trains.

Does anybody know if there are taxis available in St. Valentin and what the approximate cost to Mauthausen would be?

We would like to spend 2 weeks in Austria during the summer time and as at we are at the very early stages of planning this trip, need some pointers. We would like to spend a few days in Vienna or Salzburg, spend 6/7 days hiking and then finish up in a really nice hotel for some well needed R&R.

When to go?

Where to start - Vienna or Salzburg?
