Hello guys,

i am planning to go for a small trip in january in Vienna. Can you tell me what is the winter atmosphere in this period? Are there any Winter/ Christmas decorations or markets there? Is the winter spirit still on 14-17 January, when i am planning this trip?

I am open to any advice and suggestions to make my trip as pleaseant as can be ...

Thank you very much!
Andreea

No, there no christmas markets at this time of winter (most of them close 24th of december, some are opened a few days longer but definately not until mid january). Maybe there are some christmas decorations left, but I would not count on this.

At this time the only winter spirit will be the cold tempratures :-) But on the other hand there will be much less tourists at this time than before christmas or in spring.

Enjoy!

i was there at about Dec 28 last year and all the xmas stuff was being packed up. There was some stalls around, but mainly just to sell the hot wine.

i have never been as cold as i was there...

Hi, I'm Viennese. Dress warmly, it's gonna be cold!

As said before, all the Christmas Markets will have closed down by then. You might be lucky with some Christmas decoration, depending on how slow they are to dismount them :)

Hm, yep, the only advantage in visiting at this time of the year will be the lack of other tourists!
