Hi,

I am going to Vienna and am looking for a cool but cheapish hotel to stay at. Above a hostel but something fun and hopefully central as well. I have been to Vienna before but I was just sightseeing now I want to experience the Vienna for locals. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks

In front of the Hotel Museum you have all your typical tourist stuff... museums, hofburg, parliament, rathaus etc. but behind it you have 4 great streets filled with shops, local bars and restaurants on Lerchenfelder Strasse, Neustiftgasse, Burggasse and Siebensterngasse. aka. The 7th District.

Wombats one of the best hostel chains I ever stayed in... the Vienna one(s) have a good location as well (close to city centre and main train station).

I think you'd be better off in a private room in a hostel like Wombats. I also stayed in Kolping Hotel http://www.kolping-wien-zentral.at/ which was like an Ibis with a bit more character; very new and clean.
