It seems the S-bahn is 4€ but just to confirm, it goes to Landstrasse station from where I can take U3 then U6 to Miedling train station on the same 4€ ticket? Approx. how long will the entire trip take early in the morning around 5-6:00 am?

Sure there is the 8€ direct bus from the airport to Mielding but I've got more time than money and 4€ is breakfast...

Cheers.

Hi there,

you got that right. The S-Bahn S7 will take you to Landstraße in approx. 25 minutes, and from there you can either take U3 to Westbahnhof and then U6 to Philadelphiabrücke (= train station Wien Meidling (it's Meidling, not Miedling :). Or U4 Längenfeldgasse and then U6. See this map: http://homepage.univie.ac.at/horst.prillinger/metro/m/largemap.png
This will take you another 15 minutes.

Or, if you don't want to go to by U-Bahn, you can also take another S-Bahn from Landstraße heading for direction Meidling. The S6 or S9 for example.

And yes, the 4 Euro ticket will do as long as you don't change directions.

Hope I could help you

Thanks for the reply. The second S-bahn from Landstrasse is direct to Meidling? Also on the same 4€ ticket?

It would actually be easier and faster to get off the S7 at Rennweg (one station before Landstrasse/Wien Mitte and in the direction of Meidling).

You also won't have to go down stairs/under the tracks at Rennweg (as you would at Wien Mitte) as you remain on the same platform. You will just simply get off the S7 at Rennweg, turn 180 degrees and get on the next train on the other platform. All trains will stop at Meidling with the exception of the S7 which branches off to the airport after Rennweg.

Even better. Thanks.

But just to make sure, get off at Renweg and take any S-bahn train in the opposite direction (except the S7)?

Just thought of something - if I change directions on the S-bahn, don't I technically have to buy another ticket?

You do not need to buy another ticket. Transfers are allowed so long as it is on the same journey and not broken by long periods of time.

Yes, get off at Rennweg, cross the platform and take any train in the opposite direction except the S7. They all stop at Meidling.
