Hello,

Myself and my partner will be traveling from Switzerland into Austria, around October time 2010. We have around two weeks to spend there and would like to make the most of it. We want to travel/live as cheaply as possible but still take in as much as possible. After Austria we were planning to head into Czech Republic to then go on to Poland to catch the Trans-Siberian. What would be the best route to take through Austria?

If anyone has had a similar journey, and has any recomendations they would be greatly appreciated!

From Vienna (or Salzburg € 38 or Linz € 15) order a shuttle bus direct to Český Krumlov http://www.shuttlelobo.cz/shuttle/index.php?lang=en (€ 38). Much cheaper/faster/easier than taking a train from Vienna to České Budějovice and then finding the bus to Krumlov. From there you can also find cheap shuttles to Prague and Budějovice.

I would go Innsbruck (1 night) > Salzburg (2) > Vienna (3) > Český Krumlov (2) > České Budějovice (afternoon) > Prague (2-3) > Krakow (?) > Warsaw (?) then fly to Moscow.
