Hi,

Does anyone have any idea how you would go about booking an overnight train from St Polten (on 22 Aug) to Munich? I have been on the Austrian trains website and there seems to be a direct train to Munich at 00.52 but it just won't let me book it! I'm starting to get slightly worried as I'm trying to schedule in Radiohead at the frequency festival before flying home from Munich at 10.30 am on Sat 22nd!! I imagine like most trains in Europe in August they get booked up pretty quickly! Would it be best to try at book it at Munich station when I arrive there on 11th Aug?

Thanks

You can book this train online through the DB timetable.

i think it should be fine if you book it on the 11.aug that is enough time.

You can boot a cheap ticket from Vienna to Munich. It will cost 29 EUR. I just checked the ÖBB homepage for you, and I found out that there are still 6 bargain tickets left for a train that departs from Vienna at 0:38, but unfortunately the train will arrive in Munich at 9:35 which might be too late.
Cheap tickets for your train are unfortunately sold out, but I'm sure you'll get a regular ticket (~70-80 EUR) at the train station right before your departure.

Thank you very much everyone I have now managed to book my tickets on the website - I have to say it is very temperamental. Does anyone happen to know if there are reasonable left luggage facilities at St Polten station and how much it costs?

There should be enough left luggage facilities in St. Pölten, as this is the capital of the region and has therefore quite a big station. Maybe there are some cutbacks, because actually the station is under construction, but there should be plenty room for your stuff.
