We would like to rent bikes in Passau and do the Danube bike trail to Vienna. Would prefer not to book a self guided tour but would like to make our own arrangements. Problem is excess luggage we do not need for the bike portion of the trip but need for remainder of trip. Any ideas how to arrange excess luggage transfer from Passau to Vienna so it is there when we get there.

The way this reads you also have to buy a ticket which if you are biking the whole way, you won't need. But perhaps it is a starting point for your research:
