What,s the best bus line to get from Vienna to Bratislava with? And does anyone have a rough idea of cost?

Also, any hostel recommendations in Melk woud be appreciated.

Cheers,

i have no idea - but it is not more than 30 kilometers. you can also
take the hydrofoil (the boat with the 'wings' underneath) between
VIE and BTS on river danube.

the bus should not cost more than 10 to 15 EUR maximum.

aha! the 'hydrofoil' is called TWINCITY LINER and this is its
website. i believe it is more fun than taking a (stinky) bus...

It's not a hydrofoil, it's a catamaran!

There's also a hydrofoil:

japp! but a 'highspeed catamaran!' (driven by a water-jet). i believe the 'hydrofoil idea'
(tragflächenboot idee) was more hip in the sixties and sventies. i believe the boat is a
better idea than the bus, the prices vary according to the website between 17 and 28 EUR/
(one way), total travel time is one hour and fifteen minutes.

the bus costs EUR 7,70 (operator: 'POSTBUS', fare: one way) and departs from vienna's
'südtiroler platz' (with a stop at 'vienna schwechat airport' as well). find the website here.

There is only the HI Hostel in Melk so you don't really have a choice if you're looking for a hostel...
