Hi all,
We don't have a firm itinerary for our road trip through England as yet but we are looking to go by ferry from Liverpool to Belfast some time around 8-12th of June. Is it necessary to book in advance or can you just show up on the day and get a ticket. If you can show up and get a ticket how much more expensive is it? Oh by the way we will be leaving the car in Liverpool so just passenger requirement only.
Thanks.

I've searched the forums and scoured the web, but there doesn't seem to be a consensus answer to which if England's famous college towns is the best to visit. So I'm going to throw the question to the esteemed and experienced Thorn Tree crowd - and hopefully answer the question once and for all - which is the better day trip, Oxford or Cambridge?

Rules of the contest:
-The trip will be from London, by train.
-No taking other trains or buses once in the town (taxis or other ride sharing vehicles…

I'll be traveling to Ireland in mid-may. I have a general outline of where I want to go, but only two defined stops as I want to leave room for exploration depending on available time. My flight into Dublin arrives early a.m. Here's what I am planning for travel:
Arrival - Walking tour/explore Dublin; overnight in Dublin
Day 1 - Pick up a rental car (Dublin airport), drive to Donegal with stop at New Grange; stay in Donegal
Day 2 - Drive to Slieve League; stay in Donegal
Day 3 - Drive from Donegal…

I may need to fly to Dublin on a regular basis and as Luton is a 20 minute drive that is my first choice place to fly from. But I see that Easyjet doesn't fly to republic at all, Ryanair only has 3 flights a day the firts being at 6.30 am. Is it realistic to fly to Belfast then go overland or best to trek to Gatwick or Stansted, I guess the latter two are the best option. Any airline out of Luton that I am unaware of?

Hi, I'm from Portugal. I am thinking of making the trip that I have always dreamed of in Ireland more properly in the city of Dublin between the days 14 and 20 of July, because its culture fascinates me immensely, someone is interested in joining this my journey?

Hi all,

I'll be landing in Dublin in early July and then going to Kilkenny. I'm looking at two options for my first night there:

a) Stay in Dublin and drive to Kilkenny the following morning
b) Drive to Kilkenny the same day I land

I'm worried about what kind of traffic I'll hit if I choose option b. By the time I get off the plane and to my rental car, it should be 5 p.m. or so on a Thursday. Am I going to get stuck in traffic during that time? If that's the case, maybe I should go with…

Just wondering if anyone has any info on visa requirements for volunteering in Ireland. My boyfriend and I are staying with a family for a month on a farm near Dublin. We are volunteering for them through the workaway program (working in exchange for accommodation and food) but we are unaware of the visa requirements (if we even need one) as it's quite hard to find concrete info online. We are both Canadian. Thanks in advance.

Hi all,
Am organising a day out in London for myself and some friends on May 5th. We are all into sketching and art. We are travelling to Euston so are planning to take in a bit of Camden and most likely will get lunch there at one of the food stalls. Hopefully, if the weather is nice we can sit outside and sketch but we need some suggestions for when the weather is not so nice. Any nice coffee shops or bars with interesting views of London, for example? Any free/low cost art events happening…

Hello Everyone!

My husband and I are wanting to visit the Isle of Man. We are first time travelers never been outside the US. We would also like to spend time in Ireland and the UK.

We have no idea where to start or what to see.

We definitely want to see some historic sights on the Isle of Man.

We would also like the trip to be a little romantic.

We thought about doing one of the Cruises that go to the Isle of Man but we are not sure we would get to see everything we want to that way.

Does…
